Government collects 28.7% of Budget Estimates for total receipts in the first quarter of FY 2026-27 As on : 05-Aug-26  19:55

The Government of India received Rs 10,49,243 crore in receipts up to June 2026, accounting for 28.7% of the corresponding Budget Estimate (BE) for total receipts in FY 2026-27. The receipts comprised Rs 6,36,576 crore in net tax revenue, Rs 3,77,664 crore in non-tax revenue, and Rs 35,003 crore in non-debt capital receipts.

During the period, Rs 2,63,336 crore was transferred to state governments as their share of tax devolution, which was Rs 63,605 crore lower compared with the corresponding period of the previous year.

The government’s total expenditure stood at Rs 13,57,076 crore, or 25.4% of the corresponding FY 2026-27 Budget Estimate. Of this, Rs 10,16,818 crore was spent under the revenue account, while Rs 3,40,258 crore was incurred under the capital account. Within revenue expenditure, Rs 3,46,414 crore was allocated towards interest payments and Rs 1,14,812 crore towards major subsidies.
